The big news in the world of AI is that Sora, the much-anticipated generative AI platform, is now open to the public. Promising to revolutionise video production, Sora has been marketed as a tool to create videos at a fraction of traditional cost. But does this technology represent a leap forward, or is it simply a bland substitute for the rich tapestry of human creativity?
The reality is stark: Sora threatens to upend content creation as we know it.
VMI Bristol celebrated its 10th anniversary last month and we celebrated with two days of lens events, which were a lot of fun.

...BUT IT'S FAR FROM READY!
Canon has unveiled a ground-breaking 410-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, achieving 24K resolution in a compact format.
Designed for surveillance, medical, and industrial applications, this 24K sensor achieves a maximum capture rate of just 8fps, so it's a long way from being ready for production!
DEEP FOCUS AND FORCED PERSPECTIVE PRIMES
The Infinity Photo-Optical MikroMak primes are different to normal primes because their design is based on microscope principles.
These are the UK's first set of eight Full-Frame primes designed to generate deep focus, forced perspective and up to 6x macro images. Extreme depth of field means that pulling focus is often unnecessary.
Thanks to DP Duncan Telford for this great deep focus shot, using a MikroMak probe.
Note that we are planning a white paper on using these lenses in March 2025
