Zeiss Contax lenses rehoused by GTC Patron True Lens Services (TLS), but what were Zeiss Contax lenses?
Zeiss Contax was a range of SLR cameras and lenses produced by the Japanese manufacturer Yashica and introduced in 1975 to replace the Zeiss Ikon range of cameras.
Their organic character differentiates the Zeiss Contax lenses from modern optics and refers to a natural, often imperfect quality of the lens that contributes to a more human and emotional feel in the resulting image. Organic lenses embrace the beauty of imperfections and variations adding a sense of warmth over the sharpness, contrast and precision of modern lenses. Softness of look and warmth in colour tones can help to create a pleasing and nostalgic feel, which can be highly sought after.
The Crow (1994)
A cult classic continuing to resonate with audiences
A visually stunning film with dark, atmospheric and gothic aesthetics in an urban setting. The film's use of vintage lenses enhance its dreamlike visual experience.
