Steel Baby Pin in an Aluminum Grid Clamp
Under repeated load cycles or overtightening, aluminum pins can deform, creating a safety risk and shortening the lifespan of the clamp.
Matthews engineers solved this by fitting a hardened steel 5/8″ baby pin into the aluminum body. You get the weight savings of aluminum everywhere it makes sense, and the crush resistance of steel exactly where it matters. The pin also features a safety hole, knurled undercut, and 1/4″-20 female thread — all in a package that no other manufacturer currently offers. |
